The tamper (1) has a superstructure (2a) comprising a driving motor (3) and a guide bar (4), where the motor is supported at a machine frame (10). A substructure (2b) has a compactor base (5) driven by the motor, where the base has a compactor plate (9). A drive train (11) produces a drive connection between the motor and the base such that the base is movable relative to the superstructure along a compactor axis with compacting amplitude. The motor is designed as a liquid gas powered driving engine, and a gas supply line is provided for supplying evaporated liquid gas to the motor. |
