The method involves calculating control variables (6) by a temperature management computer unit (2) through a processing process of multiple temperature affecting input variables (5). An adaptive performance graph is determined based on the control variables when the computer unit detects temporary free computing capacity. The adaptive performance graph is stored as a vector representation in a memory unit (3). The vector representation defining vectors are required depending on the function displaced by appropriate filter units (4-1-4-n). An independent claim is also included for a control unit for implementing a temperature management of temperature of a high-power energy storage device in a motor car.
