The method involves preparing a substance mixture (10) for analysis. Chromatogram (20) for the substance mixture is provided. Data of the chromatogram is extracted at a chromatogram peak. Extracted data of the chromatogram peak is compared with appropriate data of a data library. Comparison of the extracted data at the chromatogram peak with the appropriate data of the data library is evaluated. The extracted data is comprised of accurate mass, retention time and fragment spectrum. Data is evaluated by a mathematical algorithm i.e. addition vector. An independent claim is also included for a device for analyzing substance mixtures.
