Method and device for monitoring contacts of a rotating component of a textile machine

The method involves connecting rotating component (4) and other component (11) to common electric power source (20). The components are not provided in contact with each other, and are electrically isolated during normal operations of textile machine. Short circuit generated due to contact of rotating component with other component is detected via monitoring device (21). Total duration time for all detected short circuits is summed over defined unit of time so as to define total duration of short circuits per unit time. An independent claim is included for textile machine.
