A printing apparatus having a plurality of printing heads (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d), beneath which can be arranged a printable medium (2) which can be transported in a transporting direction (4'), wherein the printing heads (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d) are arranged one behind the other in the transporting direction (4') of the medium (2), is characterized in that the printing heads (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d) are arranged on a carriage (3) which can be adjusted transversally to the transporting direction (4') from an operating position, in which the printing heads (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d) are located above the medium (2), into a cleaning position, in which the printing heads (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d) are not located above the medium (2), and a wiper (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) is present for each printing head (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d), the printing heads (1a, 1b, 1c, 1d) executing a movement relative to the wipers when the carriage (3) is adjusted, wherein the wipers (6a, 6b, 6c, 6d) are arranged one behind the other parallel to the transporting direction (4') of the medium (2). |
