A grappling hook formed from a plurality of flat elements slotted together

A grappling hook is disclosed that is formed from a number of flat profile pieces that are provided with slots such that the slots can be interlocked to form the grappling hook. Once the pieces are slotted together a number of shaped locking rings (Fig 1e) may be provided to hold the grappling hook together in its assembled form. A series of dowels or pegs may be provided in the flukes of the grappling hook that prevent relative rotation of the flat profile pieces once assembled to increase the rigidity of the grappling hook. The flat profile pieces may be formed of a material less dense than water to permit flotation of the grappling hook. The flukes of the assembled grappling hook may be shaped on their inside edges to form one or more non-parabolic curves.
