Cooling system for a combustion engine

The cooling system has a switchable cooling fluid-circulation pump (4) and a sealing element blocking the coolant circuit by stagnant circulation pump for avoiding thermosiphon effects. A reverse-controlled shutoff device is provided as a closing element opened with stagnant circulation pump independent of the direction of the pressure difference above the thermosiphon pressure and in the area of the thermosiphon pressure in the closing position.
