发明名称 Apparatus for roughening soles
摘要 816,211. Roughing shoe &c. soles. BRITISH BATA SHOE CO. Ltd. Sept. 30, 1955 [March 16, 1954], No. 7547/54. Class 31 (1). Apparatus for roughening the upper surface of shoe or other sole units along an endless zone 109, Fig. 6, comprises a work support in the form of a circular turntable 30, Figs. 1 and 6, which is positively rotated about a vertical axis so that a peripheral portion of it travels directly underneath a working location, a sole-roughening device 14 which is arranged to be positively rotated about an axis inclined at a sharp angle with the horizontal in a vertical plane nearly tangential to the turntable and provided with operating pins 70 inclined downwardly into the working location, and guide means 90 disposed alongside, but spaced from, the turntable; the arrangement is such that, when a sole unit is placed on the turntable and against the guide means, it is nipped between the peripheral portion of the turntable and the then lowermost pins 70 so that only the latter pins engage the sole and apply to it a force transverse to said vertical plane and towards the guide means, and the peripheral portion of the turntable applies to the sole a tangential force, the two forces combining to give the sole the desired circulatory movement in its own plane under the control of the guide means 90. The turntable 30 has a rubber surface 32 and is carried by a vertical shaft 33 journalled in bearings 34, 35 in a fixed tube 11. The drive for the shaft comprises beltdriven pulleys 36, 37, belt 39, and pulley 38 which is journalled on the tube 11 and has a pin- and-slot connection 43, 44 with the shaft; the pulleys 36, 37 are so mounted on an arm 13 extending from the tube 11 as to permit tensioning of the belt. The shaft 33 is normally urged upwardly by a spring 60 acting through a bellcrank 61, 63 upon a thrust bearing 64 on the foot of the shaft ; a pedal-actuated link 66 connected with the bell-crank permits release of the spring pressure and lowering of the shaft under gravity when it is desired to place a sole unit on the turntable. The roughening device 14 is coupled by a collar 81 and screw-threaded connection 79 to a flywheel 77 screwed on the shaft of an electric motor 15 which is adjustably mounted on an inclined slide 18; the device 14 comprises a series of circularly-arranged flexible steel pins 70, Fig. 3, which are fitted in holes in the base of a cup member 71 and retained therein by a heavy rubber plug 74, washer 76 and nut 75. When in working position, the sole unit is located in a frame 100, Fig. 6, which consists of a flat base 101 and upstanding peripheral wall 102, and, to provide a deep recess for the heel of the sole, is fitted in the portion in front of the heel portion with a seat consisting of a ledge having a peripheral wall. For dealing with a sole which in the finished shoe has a welt wider around the toe and front portion in general than around the heel, the wall 102 is provided with distancepieces for appropriately spacing the periphery of the heel. The guide means 90 takes the form of two rollers mounted on vertical pins 91. In the operation of the machine, the device 14 rotates as shown in Fig. 6, so that the lowermost pins 70 work on the surface of the sole in an outward direction, i.e. towards the rollers 90, and, since the pins 70 then act to tilt the unit and the frame 100 about a central upstanding boss 31A on the turntable, the peripheral position of the turntable below the pins applies a tangential force to the unit and frame. The Provisional Specification describes also the roughening tool as consisting of a plurality of steel wire prongs mounted in openings in a cylindrical rubber body clamped in a cup-shaped sleeve.
