PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system, capable of effectively utilizing surplus power as well as recovery thereof as heat.SOLUTION: The fuel cell system includes an FPS 20 including a reforming unit 21 which reforms a raw material to generate hydrogen-containing gas and a shift unit 22 which removes carbon monoxide contained in the hydrogen-containing gas by shift catalyst; a shift heater 24 which heats the shift catalyst of the shift unit 22 in the FPS 20; a fuel cell which generates power by use of the hydrogen-containing gas; and a surplus power supply line RL for supplying surplus power beyond a demand power in an external power load EI of the generated power in the fuel cell 50 to the shift heater 24. The surplus power is used in the shift heater 24 that is an essential component of the fuel cell system 1, whereby arrangement of a separate heater for surplus power as in the past can be dispensed with, and the system can be suitably reduced in size or cost. |
