811,331. Electrolytic capacitors. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Feb. 17, 1956 [Feb. 18, 1955], No. 4999/56. Class 37. In an electrolytic capacitor, the surface of the non-formed electrode is coated with a spongy layer of gold, silver, platinum, rhuthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium or iridium. As shown, the casing 6 which acts as cathode is roughened before being coated with an electrolytically deposited layer 14 of platinum black. A sintered tantalum anode 1 is suspended from a tantalum plate 3 having annular indentations which are forced against a seal 7 by the cover 9. An insulating layer 15 and a connecting disc 10, which may carry a soldering lug, are provided. The platinum layer is stated to reduce resistive loss and to maintain the composition of the electrolyte 13. |
