A two-wheeled electric vehicle includes a battery, a three-phase AC electric motor, a motor controller, an accelerator operator, an accelerator operation detection means, a brake operator, and a brake operation detection means. The electric motor has a magnetic field varying means for changing the strength of a magnetic field, and is arranged to generate a driving force to be transmitted to a drive wheel when a current is supplied from the battery and to generate a regenerative current when the drive wheel is rotated by an external force. The motor controller includes a regeneration control means for executing a regeneration operation of supplying the regenerative current, generated by the electric motor, to the battery when a predetermined accelerator operation is detected and when operation of the brake operator is detected, and a regeneration amount setting means for setting a maximum regenerative current to a first fixed value when the predetermined accelerator operation is detected and for setting the maximum regenerative current to a second fixed value when operation of the brake operator is detected.
