The device (10) has a detection device (12) for detecting a ranking situation of the vehicle. An image processing apparatus (14) is provided for processing the image data, and for determining the image data based on the state value representing the state of the driver of the vehicle. The image processing apparatus is designed to store the state value before the detection of the ranking situation, and to adjust the state value based on the ranking situation such that the change of state during the ranking situation differs from the state change before the ranking situation.
