A drainage apparatus for ploughing a channel in soil, removing the excavated soil and backfilling with aggregate in a single pass is described. The apparatus comprises cutting discs, a height-adjustable angled plough, a macerator for soil removal and an aggregate processing system comprising a large hopper connected via a conveyor system to a smaller hopper from which gravel is placed into the ploughed channel.
