<p>A method and apparatus are provided for defining, at a web browser 200, an element 206 of a web page 204 for variation. The browser 200 provides an element selection facility (322) for a user to select an element 206 for variation as a variable element. In response to an element selection, the browser 200 stores an identifier 208 of the variable element. The browser 200 then renders a variant of the web page 204 by adding at least one additional element 210 to the web page so as to render the web page with a variation of the variable element. The at least one additional element 210 may be a reference to an executable script (308) stored at a server 214 and being suitable for execution by the web browser 200. The script (308) may be operable to retrieve a modification instruction (310) from the server 214, the instruction defining a modification of the variable element, and modifying the variable element in accordance with the modification instruction so as to render a variant of the variable element.</p> |
