摘要 The present invention relates to a method for determining the drowsy state of a vehicle driver which includes (a) a step in which a sensor measures the extension and contraction of the abdomen of a driver caused by breathing on a real time basis; (b) a step in which a drowsy state determining unit collects standard signals of the driver according to the normal breathing of the driver based on measurement signals obtained from the sensor; (c) a step in which the drowsy state determining unit converts the standard signals into digital signals and calculates a standard breathing amount and breathing rate according to the standard signals; (d) a step in which the drowsy state determining unit converts the measurement signals into digital signals and calculates a current breathing amount and breading rate according to the measurement signals; (e) and a step in which the drowsy state determining unit determines that the driver is drowsy when changes of the current breathing amount and breathing rate exceed a predetermined range in comparison with the standard breathing amount and breathing rate. The present invention can accurately monitor the drowsy state of the driver by calculating the breathing amount and breading rate with a simple device and process and comparing and determining the calculated breathing amount and breading rate; and can prevent vehicle accidents caused by drowsy driving by grasping the state of a driver in advance before a driver gets into danger while driving.
