<p>A lens array 2 comprising an array of superlenses 4 made from at least one negative refractive index material. The super lenses 4 preferably generate non-inverted images and at least some work at visible wavelengths. The array 2 may be made up of superlenses 4 of different types or include superlenses 4 operating at different wavelength ranges in an alternating arrangement, where the ranges may comprise infrared or visible wavelengths, and at least some of the superlenses 4 may have different focal positions dependent on the positon of the lens in the array 2. The lens array 2 may be mounted on a substrate, which is partially curved, convex and/or flexible, and can include an integrated image sensor 12. The lens array 2 is preferably part of an imaging device which can either capture images generated by the array 2 or playback images focused by the array 2.</p> |
