Aromatic alkylation catalyst

A aromatic alkylation catalyst, processes for producing the catalyst, and aromatic alkylation processes employing the catalysts are disclosed. The catalyst comprises a UZM-8 zeolite and nitrogen, and the catalyst has a nitrogen to zeolite aluminum molar ratio of at least about 0.015. In an exemplary alkylation process, the catalyst provides improved product yield.

An aromatic alkylation process comprising contacting an alkylatable aromatic compound and an olefin with an aromatic alkylation catalyst at aromatic alkylation conditions to produce an alkylated aromatic compound, the aromatic alkylation catalyst comprising a UZM-8 zeolite and nitrogen, the catalyst having a nitrogen to zeolite aluminum molar ratio of between about 0.045 to about 0.5.
