The present invention relates to a user interface (UI) regarding a character arrangement and an information processing method thereof capable of allowing for conveniently inputting characters by dividedly disposing characters arranged in alphabetical order to buttons having a square shape. To this end, an embodiment of the present invention comprises a display unit displaying certain characters arranged according to a predetermined arrangement rule for character inputting, a sensing unit sensing a sliding direction, and a controller deforming a UI for selecting a character to be input among characters arranged on a screen according to the direction sensed by the sensing unit to allow a user to easily manipulate the UI. According to an embodiment of the present invention, a character input-dedicated UI device relating to a UE of a display device and having a button shape comprises a remote controller (110) including a sensing unit (120) outputting different signals depending on a button sliding direction, a set-top box (STB) (210) receiving a signal from an output signal of the remote controller (110) and determining generation and deformation of a character input UI, and four square button UIs defining input characters arranged in alphabetical order, as a single button. Here, the same concept can be applied to any other languages such as German, French, and the like, as well as English, based on a concept that general arrangement order of each language is applied as is in the alphabetical order. |
