The invention provides the use of at least one composition for the in situ formation of a biodegradable occlusion in a target site of a body of a patient by combining an oxidizing agent and a reducing agent in the presence of a natural biodegradable polysaccharide. The invention also provides kits for the formation of a biodegradable occlusion, the kits each comprising an article configured for delivery to the target site of the body.
