A device for introducing an embolic coil into a catheter comprises an elongated body defining a longitudinal passage extending therethrough from a first opening at a proximal end thereof to a second opening at a distal end thereof. The elongated body includes a mating portion for conforming to a size and shape of an opening in a hub of a catheter to mate therewith and an embolic coil introducer sheath including a coil receiving lumen extending therethrough. A distal tip of the introducer sheath is dimensioned to be received within a proximal end of the longitudinal passage.
