A method for estimating the tilt of a medium, an apparatus thereof and a medium recognizing device are provided to accurately estimate the tilt of the medium regardless of the damage to the medium, and minimize the time required for the tilt estimation. A method for estimating the tilt of a medium comprises the following steps of: extracting an image of the medium; extracting the coordinates of a boundary line for the extracted image(S102); preparing the distribution of heights of each portion of the extracted image correspondingly to each coordinates, based on the extracted boundary line coordinates(S104); searching information about the mode on the prepared distribution(S106); and searching the image boundary coordinates by using the searched mode information(S108). |
