A method and apparatus for signal processing which enable data compression and recovery with high transmission efficiency are disclosed. Data coding and entropy coding are performed with correlation and grouping is used to increase coding efficiency. A method for signal processing according to this invention, the method includes decapsulating the signal received over an Internet protocol network, obtaining data coding identification information from the de-capsulated signal and data-decoding data according to a data coding scheme indicated by the data coding identification information, wherein the data coding scheme includes at least a pilot coding scheme, the pilot coding scheme decodes the data using a pilot reference value corresponding to a plurality of data and a pilot difference value, and the pilot difference value is generated using the data and the pilot reference value.

1. A method for processing a signal, the method comprising:
receiving broadcast signals including a video stream and an audio stream from an internet network, the broadcast signals encapsulated by an internet protocol and decapsulating the encapsulated broadcast signals; demultiplexing the broadcast signals into the video stream and the audio stream to be encoded by a data coding scheme; obtaining data coding identification information from the audio stream; obtaining audio data units of a current frame using a pilot reference value and pilot difference values without using audio data units in other frame; and decoding the audio data units of a current frame according to the data coding scheme indicated by the data coding identification information and a gain, wherein the data coding scheme includes a pilot coding scheme, wherein the pilot coding scheme corresponds to a scheme for decoding the audio data using the pilot reference value and the pilot difference values, wherein the pilot reference value is dependent on the audio data units in the current frame and is independent on the audio data units in the other frame, wherein the pilot difference values are generated using the audio data units in the current frame and the pilot reference value, wherein the pilot reference value corresponds to the audio data units in the current frame, wherein the pilot difference values correspond to each of the audio data units in the current frame, and wherein number of the pilot difference values is equal to number of the plurality of audio data units, and wherein the pilot reference value is a single value that applies to all audio data units in the current frame.
