The present invention relates to a mobile terminal operable in a host/slave mode and, more specifically, to a mobile terminal operable in a host/slave mode, which checks the existence of power sensed by a power sensing unit of the mobile terminal to support the host or slave mode of the mobile terminal. The mobile terminal of the present invention includes: a connector unit which includes a plurality of pins and to which an external device is connected; a power sensing unit which senses power with the connected external device; a battery unit which supplies power to the external device or receives power therefrom; and a control unit which checks the existence of power sensed by the power sensing unit to determine the host mode or the slave mode, when the host mode is determined, controls the battery unit to supply power to the external device, and when the slave mode is determined, controls the battery unit to receive power from the external device. Thus, portability can be improved by supporting the two modes of the mobile terminal using one cable, and costs can be reduced by eliminating the need to separately purchase respective cables. |
