Provided is a surge control method of a multi-stage compressing system including a first stage compressor to a N^th stage compressor (N >= 2, N is an integer number), a variable vane device installed at an inlet pipe of the first stage compressor, a main pipe and a branched pipe connected to an outlet pipe of the N^th stage compressor, and a surge control valve installed at the branched pipe. wherein the surge control of the first stage compressor is performed by adjusting at least one of the variable vane device and the surge control valve on the basis of a value of an adiabatic head in a compressing process of the first stage compressor, and the surge control from the second stage compressor to the N^th stage compressor is performed by adjusting the surge control valve on the basis of a value of an isothermal head in the compressing process from the second stage compressor to the N^th stage compressor. |
