A method for preventing a thermostat of a vehicle from being misdiagnosed is disclosed. The method for preventing a thermostat of a vehicle from being misdiagnosed includes: a step a) of determining a cold start test or restart by receiving an air temperature value of an engine room and an engine-off timer value when an engine is operated; a step b) of determining the air temperature value of the engine room as an outdoor temperature value when the cold start test is determined in the a) step and determining an outdoor temperature value prior to the engine-off as the present outdoor temperature value when restart is determined; a step c) of calculating a cooling water temperature value after the engine-on by modeling the cooling water temperature value based on the outdoor temperature value determined in the step b); and a step d) of determining a thermostat is normal or abnormal based on the actual cooling water temperature value and the cooling water temperature value calculated in the step c). According to the present invention, the method for preventing a thermostat of a vehicle from being misdiagnosed calculates an accurate outdoor temperature based on an engine-off timer, performing modeling on the temperature of cooling water, and compares the remodeled temperature of the cooling water and the temperature of the actual cooling water, thereby preventing a thermostat from being misdiagnosed as open stuck. |
