Provided in the present invention is a sea chest for a ship, which comprises: one or more seawater inlets which are formed at one side thereof for the inflow of seawater; an accommodating space which is formed therein in order to accommodate the seawater flowing in through the seawater inlet; a seawater chamber which is formed at one side of the upper part thereof, and is connected with a seawater supply pipe in order to transfer the seawater accommodated in the accommodating space to the outside; and one or more air vents which are formed on the top of the seawater chamber. In the sea chest for a ship, a side wall of the seawater chamber, where the air vent is formed, is extended upward relatively longer than the opposite side wall of the seawater chamber in order to facilitate air discharge by forming a space between the bottom of the top of the seawater chamber and the seawater surface. Therefore, the sea chest for a ship can provide economic feasibility by effectively preventing cavitation without an additional air vent pipe and extending the life of a valve, a pipe, and a pump of a seawater sucking unit, and can improve cooling efficiency of a cooling device of a ship. |
