According to an aspect of the present invention, a converter converts an input signal to a square wave signal using at least one switch and generates an output voltage using the square wave signal. The converter includes: a switch control unit which generates the output voltage by converting the square wave signal by the switching operation of the switch and to which controls the switching operation of the switch. According to the output voltage, the switch control unit generates a first signal (VCT) having a first period variable; controls the switching operation of the switch using the first signal; detects an output current, a first current (Ids2) flowing on the switch, and the level of the first signal; and controls a bust mode according to the result of the detection.
