An apparatus and a method for extracting an object to be detected from three-dimensional data are disclosed. A data division unit calculates normal vectors and residual values corresponding to all points which form three-dimensional data obtained by a three-dimensional data acquisition apparatus, and divides the points forming the three-dimensional data into points forming different objects, based on the normal vectors and the residual values. An object classification unit calculates a curvature of an object, based on points forming the same object among the points forming the three-dimensional data, and compares a diameter of the object, obtained by the calculated curvature, with a diameter of an object to be detected, which exists at the points where the three-dimensional data is obtained, and classifies whether the object corresponds to the object to be detected. According to the present invention, human resources and time required to construct a three-dimensional piping model can be reduced by extracting data corresponding to piping quickly and accurately from three-dimensional plant data obtained by the three-dimensional data acquisition apparatus, without the intervention of a user, regardless of the size of a plant site. |
