According to an aspect of the present invention, an X-ray imaging instrument capable of preventing inconvenience of having to move an X-ray tube and an X-ray detector at firsthand and reducing the time for X-ray radiography and the amount of exposure of a patient to radiation, by recognizing a marker placed on a target area for X-ray radiography in an image of a target object photographed by a camera and moving the X-ray tube and the X-ray detector to a position corresponding to the recognized marker and a control method thereof. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the X-ray imaging instrument includes: an X-ray tube which radiates X-rays onto a target object; an X-ray detection unit which detects X-rays passing through the target object; a photographing unit which takes an image of the target object; a recognition unit which recognizes a target area for X-ray radiography from the taken mage of the target object; and a position control unit which controls the X-ray tube and the X-ray detection unit to a position corresponding to the target area for X-ray radiography.
