Disclosed are a device and a method for recognizing a voice. The device for recognizing a voice according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises: a microphone to receive a voice; a sound source separation unit to separate a main sound source and a remaining sound source from a voice received through the microphone; and a control unit to determine whether an operation of a display device can be controlled based on the main sound source in the separated sound source, and control the operation of the display device based on the remaining sound source if it is determined that the operation of the display device cannot be controlled by the main sound source. Therefore, the device and the method for recognizing a voice according to the present invention can minimize an error that may be caused in a process of controlling the operation of the display device based on a user voice.
