The conveyor (1) has a fixed chassis, and a set of transport elements i.e. carriages (13) such as following or preceding carriages, moving on a conveying path. The carriages are connected together by a connection unit formed by a bar (8), wheels (9) and a vertical connection axle (14). Detecting units formed by inductive sensors (5a-5c) and a control system (15) are placed on the chassis to detect malfunction in displacement of the carriages on the path. The detection units detect rising and/or derailment of the carriages and/or separation of the carriages. An independent claim is also included for a method for controlling a conveyor transporting objects.
