The present invention relates to a sustained release microparticle containing a water soluble drug and to a manufacturing method thereof. The sustained release microparticle contains a water soluble drug and one among polylactic acid containing at least one carboxy group in the end and a multivalent metal cation salt of a derivative thereof. The present invention can continuously maintain a constant burst speed and an effective blood concentration without the rapidly excessive and delayed burst of the drug in the beginning since the water soluble drug is collected in the polylactic acid or the multivalent metal cation salt of the derivative thereof, thereby capable of being used as the sustained release preparation of the water soluble drug.
