A liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to control a viewing angle in vertical and horizontal directions without forming white pixels by forming a display control area and a viewing angle control area in one pixel without increasing a mask process. Gate electrodes, gate pads, and data pads are formed on a substrate. A gate insulating layer is formed on the substrate, together with source and drain electrodes on the gate electrodes. A first passivation layer and a photo acryl layer are formed on a front of the substrate in order. Contact holes are formed. Common electrodes(11) for a display control area(10) controlled in alignment to incline liquid crystal molecules in an inclination direction are formed. Common electrodes(21) for a viewing angle control area(20) controlled in alignment to incline liquid crystal molecules in a vertical direction or a horizontal direction are formed. A second passivation layer is formed on a front of the substrate. Contact holes are formed. Pixel electrodes are formed at the display control area. Viewing angle control electrodes are formed at the viewing angle control area. |
