A mouthpiece lining paper for a smoking article, which mouthpiece lining paper forms the outermost layer of the casing of the filter. The mouthpiece lining paper is provided with locally limited raised areas that are formed by hardened lacquer. Between the raised areas, surface regions of the mouthpiece lining paper are provided, above which the raised areas protrude by at least 5μm in the direction perpendicular to the plane of the mouthpiece lining paper. |
