PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a navigation device and a method for providing a navigation function for enabling a user to continuously use a navigation function without performing any operation by solving a problem that it becomes impossible to continuously use the navigation function due to the depletion of the prepaid balance of a portable terminal.SOLUTION: A navigation device 100 includes: a balance detection part 14 connected to the navigation device for detecting the prepaid balance of a portable terminal 200 which is executing a navigation application; and a switching control part 15 for, when it is detected that the prepaid balance is less than a predetermined value, switching a portable navigation function to an in-vehicle navigation function to execute the in-vehicle navigation function. When the prepaid balance charged in the portable terminal 200 becomes small and less than a predetermined value, the switching control part 15 automatically switches the portable navigation function to the in-vehicle navigation function to continuously provide the navigation function. Thus, it is possible for a user to continuously use the navigation function without performing any operation. |
