The method involves moving a first operating element in a direction. A time counting is enabled at an initial time point of the control element movement. A control parameter is changed for controlling the movement of the display element (5), if the movement of the second operating element takes place in the same direction (B) within a dynamic time interval. The ratio between the rate of the encoder signals and the speed of the display element on the screen (2) is controlled by the control parameter.
