PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide "a memory system" capable of drastically reducing cost required for protection of an external semiconductor memory chip.SOLUTION: The memory system comprises: an external storage device 2 in which predetermined information is stored; a calculation processing device 1 which is connected to the device 2 through a signal line 4 and reads the information by communication with the device 2 after initial power-up, to perform operation based on the information; an external semiconductor memory chip 3 which is connected to the device 1 through the signal line 4; and a power supply control circuit 8 which performs power supply to the external semiconductor memory chip 3 before starting communication between the devices 1 and 2 at the time of initial power-up. |
