PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus and a conveyance control method capable of improving the accuracy of controlling conveyance of recording paper, while reducing consumption of an unnecessary developer.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: an intermediate transfer belt 22 that conveys a first pattern formed into an image with the use of at least a first image forming unit having a first image forming color, of a plurality of image forming units, and a second pattern formed into an image with the use of a second image forming unit having a second image forming color; a TM sensor 26 that detects the first pattern and the second pattern conveyed by the intermediate transfer belt; and a control unit that controls, when a first condition is satisfied, a conveyance timing of recording paper to which the image formed with the use of at least the first image forming unit is transferred on the basis of a first time required from the image formation to the detection of the first pattern, and controls, when a second condition is satisfied, a conveyance timing of recording paper to which the image formed with the use of the second image forming unit is transferred on the basis of a second time required from the image formation to the detection of the second pattern. |
