1. A printing apparatus comprising:
a liquid discharge head that has a nozzle hole surface that has defined therein nozzle holes and discharges liquid from the nozzle holes; and a cap that comes in contact with the nozzle holes and has a plurality of protrusions having vertical sides that are perpendicular to the nozzle hole surface; wherein the cap has a first surface and a second surface that are each parallel to the nozzle hole surface, and the first surface comprises tops of the protrusions protruding from the second surface, wherein the first surface is opposite some of the nozzle holes and the second surface is opposite others of the nozzle holes.
