According to a laser machining apparatus for machining a bar-shaped workpiece of the present invention, a distance sensing means including an optical sensor serving as a sensing device is installed on an outer surface of a machining head which is an optimal installing position, so that the laser machining apparatus can be variously utilized based on the information sensed by the distance sensing means.
