PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus, image processing method, and a program capable of more efficiently compressing RAW data.SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus comprises: a determination unit which, on the basis of RAW data representing a RAW image being an unprocessed image obtained by imaging, determines an area pertinent to a blown-out-highlight area included in the RAW image; and a conversion unit which selectively converts the distribution of image spatial frequencies, with respect to the RAW data corresponding to the determined area pertinent to the blown-out-highlight area, the conversion unit reducing the luminance variation of pixels other than set reference pixels, in the area pertinent to the blown-out-highlight area. |
