The present invention provides: double-stranded ribonucleic acid (dsRNA) which has a chain length suitable for exhibiting a high function and low toxicity in use applications such as adjuvants, and rarely undergoes the change in chain length even when subjected to a heating/cooling treatment, or a salt of the dsRNA; an immunostimulating substance, an adjuvant, a medicine or the like which contains the dsRNA or the like; and a method for producing the dsRNA or the like. The present invention is characterized in that the weight average chain length of each of at least two strands of single-stranded ribonucleic acid (ssRNA) which constitute a first chain constituting the dsRNA is 1/2 or shorter of the weight average chain length of a strand of ssRNA which constitutes a second chain constituting the dsRNA.
