Embodiments of the present invention relate to the communications field. Disclosed are a method and a user equipment for adjusting sending time, which are used for improving sending efficiency and a transmission success rate of the user equipment. The method provided by the embodiments of the present invention comprises: the user equipment determining that transmission time of a random access preamble overlaps transmission time of uplink data; when a sum of sending power of the random access preamble and sending power of the uplink data is larger than the maximum sending power of the user equipment, obtaining an overlapping amountΔbetween the transmission time of the random access preamble and the transmission time of the uplink data; and postponing the sending time of the uplink data and/or brining the sending time of the random access preamble forward according to theΔso as to stagger the transmission time of the random access preamble and the transmission time of the uplink data.
