A catalyst for decomposing hydrogen peroxide comprises pellets consisting of a sintered mixture of silver and a powdered material (other than copper oxide) that remains solid and chemically unchanged, up to at least the melting point of silver in the presence of hydrogen peroxide and decomposition products thereof. Preferably the catalyst consists of approximately 75% of silver and 25% of said powdered material. Specified such materials are alumina (e.g. corundum), silica and silicon carbide.
