PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce work frequency of replacement of a hydraulic cylinder by protecting the hydraulic cylinder from a large amount of slag produced from a cut part of a slab.SOLUTION: A hydraulic cylinder for vertically driving a carrier roll of continuous casting equipment comprises: a rod to which the carrier roll is rotatably connected; and a protective cover that is arranged on at least a surface seen from the width-direction center of continuous casting equipment, on the outer periphery of the rod. The conveyance-direction length of the protective cover, which is seen from the width-direction center of the continuous casting equipment, is larger in dimension than a diameter of the rod. |
