PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve a workpiece machining device and method which can highly accurately machine a rod-shaped workpiece gripped by two main shafts.SOLUTION: A workpiece machining device 100 having a fixed main shaft 1, a movable main shaft 2 facing the fixed main shaft 1, and a work tool 30 for performing external diameter cutting of a rod-shaped workpiece 200 includes: drawing means which causes the tip of the workpiece 200 gripped by the fixed main shaft 1 to be gripped by the movable main shaft 2, releases the gripping of the workpiece 200 by the fixed main shaft 1, and draws the workpiece 200 in a direction away from the fixed main shaft 1; shaping means which grips the drawn workpiece 200 with the fixed main shaft 1 and the movable main shaft 2 to perform the external diameter cutting of the drawn part of the workpiece 200; and return means which releases the griping of the processed workpiece 200 with the fixed main shaft 1, moves the movable main shaft 2 in the direction of the fixed main shaft 1, and inserts and returns the workpiece 200 into the fixed main shaft 1. The external diameter cut part of the workpiece 200 having returned to the fixed main shaft 1 by the return means is gripped by the fixed main shaft 1 to start machining of the workpiece 200 into a product shape. |
