The present invention relates to a cosmetic composition containing an Akebia quinata extract as an active ingredient, which is characterized by containing 0.001-30.0 wt% of the Akebia quinata extract as an active ingredient for a total weight of a cosmetic composition. According to the present invention, the Akebia quinata extract has an MMP-1 generation preventing effect, a collagen biosynthesis effect, a melanin generation preventing effect, an antiseptic effect, and a moisturizing effect, so as to provide various kinds of functional cosmetic materials.
