The airbag device has an airbag (1) which is extended in an inflated condition to protect an impacting person over an outer side of a vehicle window. The airbag is provided with a main inflatable chamber (3) which is transversely provided with inflatable arm chambers (5,6). The main inflatable chamber and the inflatable arm chambers are a interconnected through non-inflatable transverse binding portions (7,8). The main chamber and inflatable arm chambers are combined together to form L-shaped structure.
