An apparatus for capturing a digital picturing image and a control method thereof are provided to perform a zooming shot function by enabling a zooming function even in a state that a shutter is pressed. When a first shutter-release signal is inputted, a distance measuring unit(129-1) which includes a lighter emitter and a light receiver measures the distance from a digital image photographing device to an object according to a control operation from a controller(129-3). In addition, the lighter emitter irradiates light onto the object through an infrared LED and the light receiver receives a signal concerning the irradiated infrared light reflected from the object in order to measure the distance. When a second shutter-release signal is inputted, a controller adjusts a focus of a photographed region by receiving a measured distance value of the distance measuring unit. A controller drives a motor driver(129-2) to perform a zooming shot function. |
