PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a novel and improved electrolyte for a rechargeable lithium ion battery that can improve the cycle life of the rechargeable lithium ion battery; and a rechargeable lithium ion battery comprising the same.SOLUTION: An electrolyte for a rechargeable lithium ion battery comprises: a first lithium compound including a bissulfonyl imide structure; and a second lithium compound including a complex anion including a dicarboxylate anion coordinated on a center atom; and a fluorinated ether where at least one hydrogen is substituted with a fluorine atom.
